FAQs

Injectable GLP-1 treatments are medicines that come in a pre-filled pen that are self-administered at home once a week.
GLP-1 treatments mimic a natural hormone in your gut. It regulates your blood sugar levels and keeps you feeling full for longer, and can help you lose nearly 2x more than other popular medications.
The pens are simple to use and the needles are very small, so it’s relatively pain-free and easy to get used to.

Injectable GLP-1 treatments are one of the most effective types of weight loss medicines available. Patients can lose up to 20.9% body weight on average over 36 weeks and 25.3% body weight on average over 88 weeks.

Injectable weight loss treatments are suitable for people with a BMI over 30. For individuals with weight related health concerns, they may be eligible with a BMI over 27. These related concerns include high blood pressure, diabetes, heart disease and raised cholesterol.
If you have Type 2 diabetes and a BMI less than 27, we can’t prescribe you injectable GLP-1 treatments for weight loss.

To get started, complete our quick online consultation. This allows us to recommend the best injectable treatment for you.
We’ll also request your BMI, a full-length photo, and your GP’s details before completing your prescription. This is to ensure we can offer you effective, and safe, weight loss treatment.

GLP-1 treatments are once-weekly injections given in the arm, leg or abdomen. They use a very small, fine needle for a near-painless injection just below the surface of the skin. Both treatments come with clear instructions for use.

Your treatment starts at a low dose and then increases every four weeks. When you first start treatment, you’ll be prescribed the starting dose to use once a week, for four weeks. The dose will then be increased after every four weeks until you reach the recommended maintance dose.
The clinical team will review your weight with every order to ensure this product is working for you. This way we can ensure the dose which you peak at is optimal for you.

When you order an injectable treatment for the first time, we’ll provide you with a pen and accessories for your 4 doses for your first 28 days of treatment. It’s important to store it in a refrigerator between 2–8°C. Injectable treatments come in a single-dose pen that requires no mixing. You will also receive:

  • A sharps bin with your first order
  • Swabs to clean the skin area prior to injecting
  • An instruction leaflet
  • Extra tips that can help you lose weight

To get started, complete a consultation for an injectable weight loss pen and select the lowest dose. With each subsequent order, you will receive the next pen at the required strength.

Like all medicines, injectable GLP-1 treatments can cause side effects, including nausea, vomiting, constipation and diarrhoea. Not everybody experiences them, but if you do, they usually settle after a few weeks once you get used to the medication. One of the reasons for the gradual increase in medication every four weeks is to give your body the chance to tolerate the medication so that these side effects are less likely to happen or be less problematic.
If you develop abdominal pain, severe stomach problems or severe dehydration whilst taking this medication, you should seek medical advice immediately and advise that you are using this medication.
If you develop signs of an allergic reaction, such as difficulty in breathing, rash, swelling of the face, lips or tongue, then you should also seek help immediately.
Always read the patient information leaflet that’s supplied with your treatment for full information regarding side effects.
